The Earth Laughs in Flowers

Singapore Art Week 2026

The Earth Laughs in Flowers is artist Dawn Ng’s solo exhibition of 12 monumental “time capsule” paintings, each tied to a month of 2025. Inspired by geological forces, the works take the form of “micro planets”, created from frozen blocks of pigment that are shattered and sown onto wooden panels, forming kaleidoscopic modulations of colour.

I created a music for the exhibition that sits somewhere between ritual, machinery, and atmosphere to create what I call a “sonic cosmic shrine”. The music layers fragments of fast-moving, kinetic synths - precise and mechanical - with field recordings of prayer bells, singing bowls, and sustained drones. Taken as a whole, the exhibition transform the black-box space of the Singapore Repertory Theatre into an immersive, shifting landscape.
