Defense Cascade

Defense Cascade is a kinetic sculpture created in collaboration with artist Harrison Pearce, exploring the body’s raw, instinctive response to threat. The “defense cascade” is a scientific model that describes the chain of reactions that flood the brain and body when the fight-or-flight response is triggered. The music channels these states through a string trio, each instrument embodying a different part of the brain, while the kinetic sculpture animates these forces in real time, transforming invisible internal processes into physical motion. The work has been shown in multiple public shows, including at the Royal Society of Sculptors, London and Compton Verney’s Marvellous Mechanical Museum exhibition.
