And In Time
A lockdown dance piece
Created during the isolation of covid lockdown, this screen dance work explores the possibilities and limitations of virtual collaboration in a global pandemic. Developed with choreographer Audrey Berger, the piece brings together two dancers — Venla Niitemaa and Elyssa Sena — in a shared artistic space that exists entirely on screen, shaped by distance, fragmentation, and new forms of connection.
The music reflects the conditions of its making. Centred around my out-of-tune piano left untouched for months during lockdown, the score is interwoven with a collage of found sounds and field recordings — traces of people making music in isolation. Domestic objects become percussion instruments, and everyday sonic debris is gathered into a fragile, shifting soundworld. Together, these elements form an intimate portrait of creativity under constraint: imperfect, immediate, and deeply human.
